The Georgia Appalachian Trail Club (GATC) is a volunteer organization responsible for maintaining, protecting, and promoting the Appalachian Trail in Georgia. Founded in 1930, the club manages about 76 miles of the Trail from Springer Mountain—its southern terminus—through the scenic North Georgia mountains. GATC members handle trail construction and maintenance, shelter upkeep, conservation efforts, and educational outreach, as well as organizing hikes and events to encourage responsible trail use.
